NEED A WILL?

Making a Will is important; it protects your assets and your family however small you may consider your possessions to be. It ensures upon your death that your estate is distributed as you wish to your loved ones, reducing financial burdens, protecting the welfare arrangements for any children and overriding certain legislation rules determining how your property, finances and possessions are allocated. It also may reduce the amount of tax on inheritance if advice and a Will are prepared in advance.

Depending on your circumstances, today there are many independent websites and bookstores offering quick and cost effective Will packages. These can be completed by yourself but you need to feel satisfied that your circumstances are straightforward as little mistakes could cause problems after your death and result in heavy legal charges that will be deducted from your estate.

It is generally advisable to use a solicitor. Their charges will vary dependant on the complexity of your Will so it is always advisable in the first instance to phone a few local solicitors and ask about their charges. Make sure that you have previously given thorough thought to all your assets and your wishes as changes in details will be charged as extra time.
